EPOXY BONDED STONE is a unique and very durable overlay consisting of natural fine river rock and high strength epoxy. The mixture is carefully hand troweled to a 3/8” thickness and creates a distinctive look that enhances the appearance and value of any home. Uneven areas can be leveled out to eliminate potential tripping and falling. Various combinations of stones allow you to choose the color which blends in best with your house and landscape. Colors can be combined to form borders and artistic designs.

Fast and Clean Installation
Most jobs are installed in two to five day's, following the preparation work. The next day it is resealed and then 24 hours later you can walk on it. For driveways it takes seven days for installation to cure before you can drive on it. We guarantee a clean installation with no harm to your existing landscaping and no mess left behind. We are one of the few companies that over-seal the entire job as soon as possible after installation is completed, this gives you a much higher grade finish than other installers offer.

Mildew and Stain Resistant
Here in Florida wet and slippery surfaces are a major concern. EPOXY BONDED STONE is a porous product that allows rain to pass through the surface and drain off with the existing grade to eliminate puddling and mildew growth.

Durability and Maintenance
Our high-quality epoxy has passed the test of time. Freezing water does not displace the stone. Any dirt or pine needles may be washed off with a hose or leaf blower. For a thorough cleaning we recommend a pressure washing at least once a year. With a re-coat of epoxy applied with a paint roller every three years, you can enjoy the installation for a lifetime. On interior applications a vacuum cleaner and damp mop is usually enough. For a deeper cleaning we recommend a thorough rinse and a shop-vac or carpet cleaner.

Warranty
Our Epoxy Stone has a 1 Year Warranty on materials and workmanship. This can be extended for up to 3 years.
How well does it hold up?
Professional Pool & Spa Service uses a premium quality, two part, high-strength epoxy, which is even stronger than the stones themselves. The stone is premixed with epoxy on site. The mixture is then troweled by hand, leaving a rock like textured surface. Epoxy Stone overlays have been used for over 25 years in Canada and the United States. Freezing water does not displace the stone. With a minimal maintenance you can enjoy and trust the installation for a lifetime.

Is EPOXY BONDED STONE maintenance free?
Nothing is totally maintenance free. EPOXY BONDED STONE Overlays, however, are as close as it gets. For cleaning of exterior applications, just sweep it or use a pressure washer. The surface is stain resistant, oil drippings can be removed with a citrus de-greaser and scrub brush. You can use a pressure wash if it needs it. Compared to concrete it is far easier to keep clean. Mildew will not grow on the surface and moss has a difficult time as well. We recommend a pressure wash at least once a year for a thorough cleaning. Ultra-violet light causes the surface shine to slowly fade. A simple re coat with epoxy (applied with a paint roller) will restore the shine. We recommend a re-coat of epoxy every three years to keep it looking like new.

For interior floor the overlay is practically maintenance free. It only needs a vacuum cleaner and a wet mop.

FAQ - Epoxy Bonded Stone

Does it crack?
EPOXY BONDED STONE hardens to a comprehensive strength of 4500 PSI. A 20 % elasticity allows for some surface expansion and contraction. If the concrete underneath cracks due to a ground movement or earthquake, the EPOXY BONDED STONE surface will crack with it. However we have a distinct advantage over other products, we can repair it easily by re installing the same stone mixture at a minimal cost.

Why doesn't it grow mildew?
The EPOXY BONDED STONE forms a porous surface which allows rain or moisture to pass through and drain with the grade. Water doesn't puddle up, which means the surface dries fast and is resistant to mildew. Prior to installation we drill drainage holes in any area that currently pools water and then fill those holes with EPOXY BONDED STONE which continues to allow the water to pass through and drain.

Is it environmentally safe?
Yes, The two-part epoxy becomes solid by molecular action only. It does not rely on the evaporation of thinners or moisture to cure. In fact, the epoxy will cure without air, even under water. There is a slight smell during installation and its curing process. After 1 day there are no odors left.

What is the Guarantee?
We guarantee every installation of EPOXY BONDED STONE Overlays for one year for workmanship and material. We cannot guarantee against cracking as a result of ground movement or settling.

Is it cheaper than breaking out the old concrete?
The cost of EPOXY BONDED STONE is equal or less to installing washed aggregate and far cheaper than stamped concrete. Although the installation of EPOXY BONDED STONE is an excellent alternative to get rid of your ugly concrete, it is not a cheap “cover-up solution” such as paint or tar. The EPOXY BONDED STONE overlay gives a totally different and distinctive look to your house. It enhances dramatically the curb appeal of your home and brings more value to it.

What if there are cracks in the old surface or deteriorated expansion joints?
We fill the cracks with an epoxy mixture to seal them. Deteriorated expansion joints are taken out and the space is filled with an epoxy/cement mixture. If required we coat the whole surface with epoxy before we apply the mixture. We install new expansion joints following the original lines if required.

How long does an installation take?
Most small jobs are installed in one day, the larger areas can take several days. The next day we over-seal the area with a thinned reseal epoxy, this gives you a much stronger finish and lasts you on average 3 years before you will need to reseal again. You can walk on it when it is completely dry and after seven days drive on it. We cause minimal disruption and do a complete clean-up afterwards.

Can you do vertical surfaces?
Yes. We use a heavier epoxy to hold the stone in place on step faces and foundation walls.

What does it cost?
The price is around $5 - $9 per square foot, depending on the size and condition of the existing structure to be covered and the rock chosen. This includes any necessary preparation work, such as crack repair, pressure washing, etc. Specialty inlays, custom artwork, custom requests such as removal of installed tile are individually priced. Custom rock color blends are available upon request for a minimal charge. Major credit cards accepted.

Resealing is recommended every three years. The current cost for reseal is $0.62 per sq ft.
